- communal facilities which might include meeting, eating and work space
- homes to meet the needs of an intergenerational group
- buildings designed to Lifetime Homes standard
- whole site to be designed to high spec eco dwelling
- gardens/allotments
- facilities for small businesses and working from home
In february we formed an unincorporated association, Oxford Cohousing. It has 8 core group members, 4 of whom serve as Steward, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Secretary. We are now looking into the legal entities that we will form in order to progress our project.
We are keen to recruit new members, both from the wider community and those on the housing register or who already live or wish to live, in local authority housing. 50% of our houses will be affordable.
We welcome more people to help with the work of creating a co-housing community, perhaps as full members. We also need to gather would-be co-housers as associate members: people who may want to live in such a community though they might not have lots of time right now to make it happen.
We are also looking for potential partners (land owners, developers, planners, housing associations, architects, and more).
