We have been meeting roughly once a month since June this year. Prospect Co-housing now has nine adults and three children keenly involved in developing the community. In addition, we have five other adults, with two more children, who may well join us. We still need more members.
The people involved so far are of all ages, abilities and income groups. Four adults are aged between 22 and 31, two are in their 50’s and the other three between 60 and 65. Some have savings or existing homes they are willing to sell and reinvest in the community, while others have just their skills or labour to offer. Some have careers, which they will continue with, possibly working on-site, others are seeking a complete change of lifestyle and a few have young children to care for. Others are retired, and whilst relatively limited in the physical labour they can provide, have other skills and resources to offer. This balance of ages and abilities is just what is necessary for the group to flourish.
We still want new members and have adverts in both Permaculture Magazine and Resurgence. All interested people are invited to make contact by email or phone (see website for contact details http://www.prospectcohousing.org.uk/wordpress/?page_id=9 ) After an initial phone conversation those still interested will be asked to fill in a questionnaire.
New members’ meetings will be held near Exeter over a weekend in December and January (dates to be confirmed). These meetings will be for potential members to get to know each other, find out more and hopefully get involved.
