2008 US National Cohousing Conference
Three members of the UK Cohousing Network attended the US Cohousing National Conference in Boston in June and were astounded by the scale and complexity of the cohousing scene in America. Key themes of the conference included the role of developers, senior cohousing and environmental design. Sarah Berger, Project Manager of the Network & resident at the Community Project in Sussex, Mark Westcombe from the forming Lancaster cohousing project and Maria Brenton of the Older Women’s CoHousing (OWCH) made vital connections with the cohousing pioneers in America and came back full of new ideas and enthusiasm. There are 113 cohousing schemes in existence in America and another 90 in development. The Network can certainly learn from their experience.
You can read all about it on the US cohousing website conference overview page.
