Frankleigh co-flats

Frankleigh CoFlats consists of 6 self contained flats converted from a grade 2 listed Victorian Mansion. Residents have their own self contained flats. They share in the maintenance and caring of the buildings and land. The communal kitchen, grand lobby and grounds are used for communal meals, parties and social gatherings. Decisions are made by consensus or rarely by majority if deadlocked.

There are shared grounds of about 7 acres, including an open air swimming pool, rose garden, front lawn, Beech Tree field and a large field to the south.

Brief History

Frankleigh House was bought by David Michael at auction in 1995. Frankleigh House Community Ltd was set up before legal completion. David & Helen provided security for the communal mortgage. The 10 members invited to join each had an equal share and rented their units for the same low rent. In 2002 the original members and new residents agreed an amicable split into 2 communities. Each group transferred their shares into long leases enabling residents to own their flats. Frankleigh coFlats occupies the older Frankleigh House building.
